Madonna stripped in Moscow, Russia during a concert in support of punk band Pussy Riot. The band members were arrested roughly five months ago and now facing 3 years in prison for protesting against Putin, the president of Russia. The three band members of Pussy Riot, Maria Alyokhina 24, Yekaterina Samutsevich, 29 and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22 stormed into a Russian Orthodox Church in February 21 protesting against Putin’s continued rule since 2000. They wore black balaclavas to disguise their identity, busted into church service and conducted “punk prayers” – Reuters, calling for President Vladmir Putin to step down.

The essence of the three deviant singers storming into this particular church is because the head of Russian Othordox Church was ardent supporter of Putin during this year’s presidential campaign. But they forgot when you are in Rome, you have to follow what Romans do and if you are a Roman, you’ve to be loyal to your leader less you lose your pretty face and teeth. Putin couldn’t let them walk away like that as if they were wielding nuclear weapons. He damped them to rot in prison; dirty, stinky, watered Russian cell units. He disregarded their ‘celebrityhood’ and starved them for some days. They have been in those inhumane conditions for close to five months and their lives are never the same again.
They chose to beg for international prayers from Madonna so that the staunch communist leader can free them and Madonna has done exactly that way. Putin listens to prayers from no other person accept from Madonna especially when she strips for him.

Madonna jetted to Moscow, stripped to a black bra for Vladmir Putin revealing the words Pussy Riot at the back. “I know there are many sides to every story, and I mean no disrespect to the church or the government, but I think that these three girls – Masha, Katya, Nadya – I think that they have done something courageous,” Madonna said to her fans and specifically to the president.
She joined other music superstars like Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Franz Ferdinand and Faith No More in calling for their release. Putin has been cracking down on dissent but we hope after Madonna’s strip, her celebrity status and woman’s power, the Pussy Riot band ladies would be freed.
